PREFACE
The journal Logeion - Philosophy of Information, linked to the Research Group on Philosophy and Politics of Information of the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT), opens its 2026 work by announcing the publication of its A2 grade in the latest CAPES journal evaluation. The CAPES grade expresses the consolidation of the journal for scientific communication in the sub-area of Philosophy of Information, especially Practical Philosophy.
The Logeion Journal reaffirms its interest and willingness to value and strengthen studies in the Philosophy of Information within Information Science, especially in practical philosophy issues such as Ethics and Politics of Information. The journal aims to publish research results in the contemporary scenario on the social uses of language, especially its mediations by digital information and communication technologies. The journal seeks to critically address information theories, information work, information ethics in organizations, intellectual property, and information and communication policies.
It is important to highlight the contribution of the 23 members of the journal's Editorial Committee, researchers and professors from various universities, institutes, and countries. This Committee coordinates the dissemination of the journal in its plurality of authors and the formation of an international community of readers on all continents.
I also highlight the collaboration with the School of Library Science at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro since the journal's creation in 2014. In this context, it is worth mentioning the professors from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Geni Chaves Fernandes and Claudia Bucceroni Guerra, who successively held the position of vice-editor of the journal from its creation to the present day.
The voluntary work of the entire Editorial Team should also be mentioned, particularly in the review and standardization of articles. I would also like to name among the volunteers on this team the 3 postgraduate students in Information Science who managed the operational aspects of the editing: Tirza Rodrigues Vargas (UniRio), Daniela Capri (UFSC), and Ana Gabriela Clipes (UFRGS).
Starting in 2024, the journal will publish accepted articles continuously. This change in format will expedite the publication of articles, which are reviewed and prepared for publication as soon as they are accepted.
The journal is indexed in several databases: BRAPCI, Diadorim, DOAJ, Google Scholar, Latindex, Miguilim, Redib, and PhilPapers. The goal now is to seek indexing of the journal in major international databases.
From 2025 onwards, a strong partnership will begin between the Philosophy and Politics of Information research group at IBICT and UniRio, especially with the Philosophy of Information research group, led by Professor Valéria Wilke. We hope that this partnership will evolve and that the UniRio group will assume sole publication of the Logeion journal.
Current society continues to challenge us with its technological, social, and economic changes. The approaches and arguments presented in the journal contribute to the fostering and construction of critical rational thought in the world of life.
We invite researchers, professors, and students in the field to submit their contributions to Logeion. We invite our readers to follow and engage with the articles that are continuously published.
Rio de Janeiro, January 12, 2026.
