PREFACE
The journal Logeion: Filosofia da Informação, affiliated with the Philosophy and
Politics of Information Research Group at the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and
Technology (IBICT), launches the first issue of its 13th volume (2026). It is worth noting that
the journal is currently rated A2 in the CAPES Qualis classification system. The journal is
establishing itself firmly within the realm of scholarly communication regarding the Philosophy
of Information, particularly as a form of Practical Philosophy.
Logeion reaffirms its commitment to valuing and strengthening studies on the
Philosophy of Information within the field of Information Science, especially concerning issues
of ethics and information policy. The journal aims to publish research findings from the
contemporary landscape regarding the social uses of languageparticularly as mediated by
digital information and communication technologies. It seeks to critically address information
theories, information work, organizational information ethics, intellectual property, and
information and communication policies.
The contribution of the journal’s Editorial Committee—comprising researchers and
professors from various universities, institutes, and countriesdeserves mention. This
committee coordinates the engagement of authors and fosters an international community of
readers across all continents.
Also noteworthy is the collaboration with the School of Library Science at the
Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UniRio), which has been in place since the
journal's inception in 2014. In this context, the participation of UniRio professors and students
in the journal's editing and article review processes is particularly significant. A formal
partnership with UniRio’s Philosophy of Information research group, led by Professor Valéria
Wilke, begins in 2025.
Currently, the journal employs a continuous publication model for accepted articles.
This format change accelerates the publication process, ensuring that articles are reviewed and
published immediately upon acceptance. The journal is indexed in several databases: BRAPCI,
Diadorim, DOAJ, Google Scholar, Latindex, Miguilim, Redib, and PhilPapers. It is now
pursuing indexing in international databases. Contemporary society continues to challenge
philosophy and science with profound cultural, social, and economic changes. The approaches
and arguments featured in the journal contribute to the sharing of ideas and the development of
critical rational thought, particularly regarding the discussion and resolution of practical
problems. We invite the academic community to submit contributions to Logeion. We also
invite readers to follow the continuous publication of articles.
