It is possible a distinction between the concepts of illustrating and informing in photographs

This presentation derives from the research project “The Iconological Dimension according to Aby Warburg: a proposal for a contextual description of photographs (2020 – 2022)” and its main objective is to outline ways to answer a question that can contribute to the development of contextual descriptive forms : Is it possible to distinguish between the concepts of illustrating and informing in photographs? The purpose of the article is to present ways to define these important concepts for the description of photographs. It is based on the reading of theorists such as Vilém Flusser and André Rouillé.
