This article aims to explore and elucidate the fundamental distinctions between artificial intelligence (AI) and sentient intelligence, as proposed by the philosophy of Xavier Zubiri. The study seeks to understand the extent to which AI can replicate aspects of human intelligence and how the understanding of sentient intelligence can inform and influence the future development of AI. The research adopted a qualitative approach, utilizing a literature review to build a robust theoretical framework on AI and sentient intelligence. Additionally, a content analysis was conducted to compare AI with sentient intelligence, focusing on the philosophy of Xavier Zubiri. This analysis allowed for the identification of two main categories related to AI from the perspective of sentient intelligence: absent and present characteristics of AI according to the understanding of sentient intelligence. Within the absent characteristics, 14 units of records were identified; for the present characteristics, 7 units of records, totaling 21 codes. The study concludes that while artificial intelligence can imitate certain aspects of human intelligence, it cannot replicate the totality of the sentient experience.
