Presencia social e institucional de los Jefes de Gobierno de las Américas en Redes Sociales
un análisis de la comunicación en Twitter sobre COVID-19

Este artículo examinó los perfiles personales de los Jefes de Gobierno de los países de América del Sur y del Norte y cómo se comunicaron con sus audiencias sobre las medidas institucionales para contener el COVID-19. Los análisis se llevaron a cabo sobre los datos recopilados de Twitter desde noviembre de 2019 hasta noviembre de 2020. Este estudio incluye: i) análisis cuantitativo, medición de categorías y énfasis en la comunicación de tweets, retweets, me gusta y comentarios sobre asuntos relevantes a la pandemia; ii) análisis cualitativo que permitió evaluar los discursos para identificar la interferencia política y la efectividad de la comunicación en momentos críticos de la pandemia. Se pudo inferir que cada presidente tiene sus singularidades y entendimiento sobre el uso de las redes sociales como una herramienta de comunicación más directa con su audiencia. También se encontró que la comunicación exitosa no es directamente proporcional al volumen de mensajes en Twitter, sino a aspectos sociopolíticos y de liderazgo institucional que pueden marcar la diferencia en Social Media en el combate a COVID-19.
