This essay traces ‘elective affinities’ (Michael Löwy) between the ideas of two self-management theorists: the Brazilian Paul Singer and the English man Raymond Williams. Some thematic axes stand out: 'long revolution', 'adult education', 'socialism', 'self-management', 'knowledge', 'structure of feeling', 'popular education'. In Singer and Williams, the influence of Antonio Gramsci stands out, with his idea of 'cultural hegemony'. In conclusion, we can see that the ideas of the two theorists are fundamental for an educational policy in the field of pedagogy of self-management/Solidarity economy.
