Resumo

Este artigo investiga os fatores explicativos por trás do envolvimento de empresas chinesas de big tech em projetos alinhados com objetivos nacionais estratégicos estabelecidos pelo Estado chinês, tanto nacional quanto internacionalmente. A análise começa com a observação de que o contexto da China apresenta características únicas em dois aspectos principais: promoveu o surgimento de players do mercado nacional com capacidade de desafiar monopólios estabelecidos globalmente; e revela um comportamento corporativo que se estende para além de modelos focados apenas na extração de renda de monopólios intelectuais. Este estudo tem como objetivo caracterizar as iniciativas empreendidas pela big tech chinesa que demonstram alinhamento com os objetivos definidos pelo Estado, propondo que a relação entre essas entidades privadas e o poder do Estado pode ser entendida como uma “tensão simbiótica”.
