This paper will search in the singular experiences of authorship for a connection between the concept of auto-formation (self-formation) and the narratives of the self that venture across the boundaries among biography, autobiography and novel - the territory recently called “auto-fiction”. If the auto-fictional genre interests us, it is due to its intense production of information, associated with a free exercise of creation. Our goal will be to elucidate the ways and possibilities that are opened up for human expression when, overcoming the circle of automaticity of everyday life, it presents itself as an activity of self-creation.
