This study proposes to characterize the ongoing research on health related nanotechnology in Brazil, with data from the CNPq Directory of Research Groups. It generated a list of 198 nano term that yielded a total of 878 research groups, 85 in the Health Sciences, with a strong predominance of the Pharmacy subarea. The Southeast and Southern regions concentrate 72% of the groups. Thus 145 research lines were identified and the Focus Index created allowed to infer that only 11% of the groups are totally dedicated to Nanotechnology in Health.
