Aims to identify good practices of digital preservation applied to institutional repositories (IRs) in public institutions of education and research in the Southeast of Brazil. Highlights the benefits of digital preservation policy in the establishment of preservation practices. It is based on documental  research methods such as data collection in selected IRs, and questionnaires in a closed questionnaire format, applied to institutions. Based on the technical literature and research results, it establishes a contribution towards the development of digital preservation policy.
