For the last decades, we have witnessed the proliferation of several kinds of alternative spaces of collaborative research, production and learning. In this article we address a specific one, the hackerspaces, which are characterized as being, theoretically, self-organized and self-financed, without external sponsorship or interference. In our analysis, besides exploring their specificities, we bring forward some notes, in order to articulate this experience with the citizen science initiatives, in its democratic bias, and the constitution of a common science, as proposed by Antonio Lafuente and Adolfo Estalella.
