Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper discusses the development of concepts linked to the Political Economy of Communication (PEC) from the academic production of Valério Cruz Brittos between 2001 and 2012, specially his contribution to the concepts of: (a) barriers to entry in the communication markets and the specification of the notion of techno-aesthetic patterns; (b) “offer multiplicity phase” in the periodization of the Brazilian television market; and (c) “Pluri-TV”, to characterize the current environment for the dissemination of screens. It is about making explicit its insertion in the trajectory of the Brazilian EPC as a contribution to its further development.
