Abstract

Session 2 presents the reflections of professors Gustavo Saldanha (IBICT-UNIRIO) and Vinícios Souza de Menezes (UFS) on the the constitution of Information Science regarding its theoretical-cultural apparatus and the consequences of its practices and values. Prof. Gustavo starts from current artistic productions to deconstruct what he calls “colonial judgment”, presupposition of a unique rationality and truth, founders of meaning. Prof. Vinícios brings a scathing criticism to the epistemological tradition of informational thinking. By reflecting on the etymology of the word information, and focusing on the meaning of formless, he introduces the Amerindian perspective as a path to the redefinition of knowledge and work in informational areas
