Based on the assumption that approaches to women, not only in the scientific sphere, must promote the building of counter-hegemonic knowledge as part of a resistance agenda, the investigation aims to list characteristics of scientific production about women in Information Science in Brazil between the years 2019 to 2023, based on the Information Science Database (BRAPCI), a brazilian database. This is a descriptive research, with a qualitative-quantitative approach, using a bibliometric technique for data collection and analysis of the following variables: a) temporal evolution of the research; b) authors involved, co-authorship formats and scientific communication channels; c) research approaches. The corpus is formed by 292 articles selected using the descriptors “woman” and “women” in the period between 2019 and 2023. An expected fluctuation in production in the time series was identified, as well as an increase in the rate of collaboration between authors, which suggests a movement towards to the maturation of the theme within the research field. The thematic approaches indicate that research essentially arises from asymmetries of power and empowerment through actions and techniques specific to Information Science and Librarianship, demonstrating adherence of approaches to the critical and resistance agenda
