Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies and artificial intelligence

This paper presents recent discussions on artificial intelligence for social good (AI4SG). It seeks to understand how AI has been used to reduce inequalities, combat injustice, promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and identify obstacles and needs for developing public policies within this segment. The approach begins with general data and then emphasizes the Brazilian context. The methodology includes bibliographic research on AI for social good and approaches to policy guidelines and technological solutions, both domestic and international. An initial mapping of initiatives in Brazil is also carried out to identify patterns and trends. The results indicate that the observed scenario is organized around efforts by governments, NGOs, companies, and startups that act on opportunities for action or are created to minimize the negative impacts of technological bias on society.
