Epistemologia social, semântica geral e biblioteconomia

Resumo

A história registrada do pensamento sugere que o conhecimento humano aumenta em volume e complexidade, tendendo à interdependência e à fragmentação.Faz-se necessária uma força coesiva que pode ser identificada como uma nova disciplina — a epistemologia social — que tenha como objeto de estudo os meios pelos quais o conhecimento é coordenado e integrado dentrode uma organização social complexa. Existe uma afinidade muito grande entre esta disciplina e a biblioteconomia, já que a última é baseada em fundamentos epistemológicos e tem por objetivo aumentar a utilidade social dos registros gráficos, sendo fundamentalmente, a gerência do conhecimento. A biblioteconomia é a disciplina mais interdisciplinar de todas, e sua tarefa de ordenar, relacionar e estruturar o conhecimento e os conceitos, a torna estreitamente interrelacionada com a semântica geral, também altamente interdisciplinar, epistemolôgica e envolvida na linguagem, simbolismo, abstração,conceituação e avaliação do conhecimento. Abstract

The recorded history of the world of thought suggest that as man's knowledge increases in volume and complexity, it becomes increasingly interdependent and tends toward fragmentation. There is a need for a cohesive force. That force can be exerted by a new discipline — social epistemology — a body of knowledge about knowledge itself, and which has asits object of study the ways in which knowledgeis coordinaded, integrated within a complex social organization. A very important affinity exists between librarianship and social epistemology, for librarianship is based or epistemological foundations.The aim of librarianship is to maximize the social utility of graphic records being fundamentally the management of knowledge. It is the most inter-disciplinary of all disciplines and its task is the ordering, relating and structuring of knowledge and concepts. It is closely interrelated with general semantics. Both are fundamentally epistemological,deeply involved in language, symbolism, abstraction,conceptualization and evaluation of human knowledge. (M.P.)
