Spring in your teeth

escape and resistance in the digital era

  •

Big data is a phenomenon that poses new challenges to various professionals, including information scientists. In contemporary capitalism managing huge collections of digital data seems to be essential to ensure or maintain power. This article discusses forms of resistance understood as counter-power or counter-intelligence. To do so, it addresses social and political implications of big data, highlighting data as possible objects of art and philosophy, capable of generating lines of flight. It also considers joining the notions of big data and the Kantian sublime to propose a philosophical concept of becoming-sublime as that which resists and differs in the new dynamics of knowledge-power.
