RESUMO Este artigo tem como proposta apresentar um levantamento sobre o tema comentário de leitores na internet. O estudo pretende promover uma discussão sobre como pesquisadores têm abordado o tema, bem como sobre o modo como os veículos têm se colocado diante da questão. Para isso, este mapeamento reúne pesquisas registradas nos 46 programas de pós-graduação em comunicação social (mestrado e doutorado) listados pela Capes, e discute o papel desse dispositivo de participação no atual contexto da mídia.

ABSTRACT This article presents a study in the topic of readers’ comments on the Internet. The study aims to promote a discussion about the way researchers have addressed this topic and how different media have positioned themselves in face of this issue. A survey of research mapped production in 46 postgraduate programs (MSc and PhD) in Social Communication listed by Capes. In view of these results, the article discusses the role of this participation device in current media context.
