The present study aims to analyse bring a perspective how the law deals about duty of information. Therefore, at the outset, its qualification is succinctly defined as an independent legal asset and deserves protection by itself. Then, the constitutional provisions and other norms which regulate the duty of information are analyzed; it even analyzes the importance of information and its relevance to awaken confidence in the behavior of citizens, especially in the context of local information in the relationship between the Municipality and its inhabitants. The systemic method is adopted and based on the literature review. Characteristics of the information are pointed out and the importance of it being qualitative and intelligible in Brazilian law.
