The article identifies how the characteristics of authoritarian behavior systematized by Levitsky and Ziblatt (2018) are revealed in statements by the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, verified by the fact-checking website Aos Fatos. From a content analysis, followed by analysis of meanings of Bolsonaro statements on Twitter about the pandemic Covid-19, the study allows us to measure the authoritarianism and misinformation in the president's speech amid health crisis, and the challenges that represents for fact-checking, the exercise of journalism and democracy in the Brazilian context
