Considering comic books as informational resources, and comic book libraries (gibitecas) as information units, which contain in their collections several comics, this study aims to identify actions or events sponsored by these comic book libraries, oriented towards reading mediation, based on the information mediation dimensions as highlighted by Gomes (2014, 2017, 2019, 2020). A case study was chosen, having a qualitative and explanatory case study carried out on a few Brazilian comic book libraries, listing some of their activities and projects, aiming to highlight them as relevant initiatives towards reading mediation. Analyzing these initiatives, it can be seen that comic book libraries offer actions that can be classified as pertinent to information mediation, which also acts in favor of comics engagement and reading practices, adding to the reading mediator’s course of actions as professionals aware of their role regarding comics choices and approaches, as well as the readers, as reading information beneficiaries, favoring their formation as readers from different contexts and social realities, endorsing information introjection and to be conscious and active as social protagonists
