Reading education in rural areas and its link with the Community, Family and Peasant Economies (ECFC): a meeting in favor of the dignity of the peoples

Abstract

This article is the result of the postdoctoral research project Harvesting the word to feed life: reading education and its link with the family, rural and community economy (EFCC): a look at cultural (libraries) and school (schools) contexts, which aimed to explore how reading education programs can contribute to strengthening community, family and peasant economies (ECFC)? How can library practices be articulated with the community, family and peasant economy (ECFC)? For this, it starts from the exploration of the concepts of rurality, Family Economy and Peasant Community (ECFC) and Intangible Cultural Heritage. Subsequently, we reflect on how reading education can be articulated with Intangible Cultural Heritage, taking as a reference the Strategic Guidelines for Public Policies in Peasant, Family and Community Agriculture -ACFC- of Colombia, proposed in Resolution 464 of 2017. Finally, it proposes a draft ideas for a reading education program that articulates public policy strategies through library practices in favor of dignity and life in the countryside. Hoping that this will contribute to the reduction of inequalities in rural areas, to the potentialization of the ecological and economic functions of the library and to the valorization of cultures and traditional knowledge as opposed to liberal ideologies that privilege the agribusiness of the latifundio
