Abstract

While the accelerated expansion of connectivity and the innovative emergence of new information and communication technologies have provided countless opportunities for individuals and companies, it is undeniable that they have also brought with them a series of complex challenges. In this context, the BRICS countries face common threats in the field of cybersecurity, such as cyberattacks, cybercrime and cyber terrorism, and urgently need solutions. BRICS member China has been proactive in formulating strategies to deal with these challenges. This study, through a systematic review of the literature and case analysis, aims to identify the Chinese laws and initiatives which have been key to China’s progress in building a solid cybersecurity policy f1amework, expanding digital communications infrastructure and promoting the development of the cybersecurity sector and to analyze the opportunities and challenges for cyber cooperation among the BRICS countries, and then propose specific strategies. It is expected that through this research, Chinese policy patterns as a reference can be introduced, providing a basis for strengthening BRICS countries’ cyber cooperation in the areas of harmonizing policies and regulations, building an interconnected global information infrastructure and establishing an effective communication mechanism.
