Semantics warranty is the principle applied to the construction, development and evaluation of Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS) to justify and validate meanings. The aim is to present "sketches of landscapes" that contribute to the paving of the epistemological platform represented by the principle of semantic warranty in the organization of knowledge. To this end, the thinking of two philosophers of language — Ludwig Wittgenstein and Mikhail Bakhtin — is used to conduct the reflections. It is concluded that promoting meaningful and adequate meaning to documentary languages requires conditions of recognition of cognitive authorities that balance the sensitivity necessary to provoke the unveiling of useful meanings in KOS, this being the role of the principle of semantic warranty.
