The recent debates about the epidemic of disinformation, which has affected the Brazilian political scene in recent years, lead us to reflections on the development of information and communication technologies during the process of reconfiguring the Brazilian State. Under successive rounds of “conservative modernization” and a monopolistic tendency, we will address informational appropriation in the mainstays of our last dictatorship (1964-1985) and in the subsequent national insertion in the propagated process of neoliberalization, under a deregulated international financial system.
