Automation at the Center for Documentation and Information of the Institute for Space Research (Inpe)
Abstract
The experience on development and operation of automated systems acquired by the Center for Documentation and Information of the Institute for Space Research, during fifteen years of computeraided work, is described. The actually developed system is a set of seven modules that are able to undertake all the technical processes for each document from its acquisition until its retrieval. All data entry is done by the Central Library staff although the Sectorial Library patrons are able to search andretrieve this information locally, using the online module named SIRIUS. The system as a whole and its performance in relation to the users are analysed and evaluated.
