Abstract

O Vocabulário Controlado Básico (VCB), utilizado para a indexação dos registros bibliográficos da rede de bibliotecas coordenada pela Biblioteca do Senado Federal, foi desenvolvido para compatibilizaras duas linguagens de indexação existentes na biblioteca até 1983. São descritos a abrangência conceitual, a metodologia de trabalho, a atualização e o futuro gerenciamento "online" do vocabulário.

Development of a controlled vocabulary at the library of the Federal Senate

Abstract

The Basic Controlled Vocabulary was developed to achieve compatibility between two indexing languages that had existed in the library until 1983. Itis used for indexing bibliographic records in thelibrary network coordinated by the Library of the Federal Senate. The conceptual scope, the working methodology, the up dating procedures and the future online management of the vocabulary are described.
