Abstract

Elabora-se um histórico da produção e editoração da documentação africanista, localizándose geograficamente os principais acervos. Analisam-se as questões relativas à linguagem e ideologia e as suas implicações na transferência da informação. Coloca-se em discussão a ideologia e a eficácia dos tradicionais instrumentos documentários no tratamento deste tipo de documentação. Enfoca-se especificamente a documentação africanista em lingua portuguesa e a sua problemática, apresentando-se algumas propostas para controle de vocabulário.

Printed communication, libraries, social context

Abstract

Printed communication and its relation to the library is discussed. The barriers that hinder information transmission are considered from the point of view of the library as an instrument of social change and the role of the information agent and the receptor relevance in an information system.
