Faz-se um histórico da evolução da profissão do bibliotecário, considerando-se alguns fatores que levaram a uma modernização na profissão. Apresentam-se as novas carreiras que foram surgindo em conseqüência desta modernização, discutindo-se particularmente as atividades do agente da informação e seu papel no âmbito da Ciência da Informação, assim como suas perspectivas de atuação no contexto brasileiro.
Perspectives of information broker in brazilian context
Abstract
The library profession is approached within a historical view. Some factors that lead the profession to a modernization are considered.New careers that were born because of that modernization are presented. The activities of the information broker and his role in the Information Science environment are stressed, as well as his perspectives in terms of work position in the Brazilian context.
