El aporte de bibliófilos y bibliógrafos negros de los siglos XIX y XX a la construcción de una Bibliografía Negra

Este artículo aborda la contribución de los bibliófilos y bibliógrafos negros en la recopilación, preservación, organización y disponibilidad de recursos informativos sobre y para la población negra, africana y de la diáspora en los siglos XIX y XX en el contexto de los Estados Unidos de América. En su desarrollo, reflexiona sobre la bibliografía y la bibliofilia en la constitución de colecciones, las colecciones especiales negras y la Bibliografía Negra para la justicia social en el contexto segregacionista, presentando estrategias de acceso a la información, al libro y a la biblioteca por parte de la comunidad negra. Finalmente, presenta el aporte de cinco personajes principales, a saber: el coleccionista David Ruggles, el bibliófilo Arthur Alfonso Schomburg y los bibliógrafos Daniel Alexander Payne Murray, Monroe Nathan Work y Dorothy Porter Wesley. Sus aportes al documentar la historia, vida y vivencias negras, poblaciones africanas y de la diáspora, así como en la construcción de colecciones, centros y bibliotecas negras, hasta el día de hoy sirven como fuentes de información para la reparación epistémica e histórica de estas poblaciones.
