Deconstructing myths of origin: the Portuguese language is a late phenomenon that comes from Galician and not from Phoenicians or Arabs

The great idea of this book is that the Portuguese language has origins in Galicia (Spain) and was created before Portugal existed. It is a work that deconstructs the master narratives, so legitimated, making the false idea that Portuguese comes from Phoenician or Arabic be naturalized. The language has become autonomous and, today, it is the Galicians who call themselves Portuguese speakers, which is still a great irony. Portuguese is the fourth most spoken language in the world.
