This research aims to analyze the discussions about legal aspects in the use of data in Information Science in Brazil over the last 10 years. In this way, it seeks to answer the guiding question: what attention has been paid to legal and privacy aspects in the use of personal data in scientific research in the last ten years in Information Science in Brazil? In terms of methodology, a domain analysis was carried out of bibliographic materials referring to data and privacy in Information Science in Brazil over the last 10 years. The focus of the domain analysis was on identifying the authors and their institutional affiliations; the area of application of the study according to the data life cycle; as well as the historical analysis of trends in the discussions of the ten most collaborative authors on the data life cycle in Information Science. After analyzing 173 articles written by 243 authors, the research shows that 75% of the studies deal with the Data Collection Phase, followed by the storage phases with 14%, retrieval with 8.7% and disposal with 2.8%. It was found that the institutions UNESP, UNB, UFRJ, UFPE, FGV and UFMG, with 39.5%, lead the ranking of publications and affiliations of authors who address most aspects of the Data Collection phase. It can be concluded that, although many studies on legal and privacy aspects in the use of personal data in scientific research over the last ten years in Information Science are concerned with the entire data life cycle, the Disposal phase is still little explored
