Join us! Digital Humanities and association culture

  • The emergence of the Digital Humanities in Latin America and the Caribbean has given place to a heterogeneous set of objects that articulate different academic and cultural heritages, and that are being gradually incorporated into the curricula. Although preexisting practices can be identified, it is worth highlighting how, since 2011, different associations began to shape the field using Spanish and Portuguese as their academic language. This article is an exploration of the associative behavior of the Digital Humanities, mainly in Latin America and the Caribbean, taking into account some experiences with communities of the Iberian Peninsula. It also reflects on the variables that would strengthen the field, such as the culture and value of the communal, the open, the commons, and the use of a vernacular language for communicating science.
