Descreve-se o papel dos computadores no currículo de biblioteconomia do College of Library and Information Services (CLIS), da Universidade de Maryland. Detalha-se cinco cursos especificamente relacionados com computadores e aborda-se o uso de computadores, como ferramentas, em outros cursos. Menciona-se o apoio de laboratório oferecido aos estudantes e ao corpo docente. Apresenta-se, também, uma rápida idéia dos planos futuros. No CLIS, experiências práticas com computadores são parte importante do currículo de biblioteconomia, tais como a produção de índices impressos e outras ferramentas de informação.
Computers and the Library Science Curriculum
Abstract
The role of computers in the Library Science Curriculum at the College of Library and Information Services (CLIS), University of Maryland, is described.Five courses specific to computers and the use of computers in other courses are described.Laboratory support for students and faculty is considered and a brief look at future directions is presented. At CLIS, hands-on experientes with computers are much a part of the Library Science Curriculum as printed indexes and other information tools.
