Abstract
It describes the creation, implantation and development of the Specialization Course for Librarians of High Education Institutions which hasbeen offered at several Brazilian universities, since 1987. The performance of two courses of fered at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the Brazilian Institute for Information in Science and Technology, as well as their reach or influence on the students under some political, social, cultural and human aspects are analysed
