Analysis of keyword networks of electronic scientific journal

Abstract

To deal with the challenges of the ever-growing, deterritorialized, and increasingly complex digital environment, Information Science requires different methodological contributions so as to enable it to deal with the current diversity of networks and information systems. In order to examine the trends and highlight the most frequent keywords in the domain of an electronic scientific journal derived from the networks that could be identified, a bibliometric and network analysis was conducted to obtain, quantitatively and visually, the relationships between the frequency and co-occurrence of keywords in the bibliographic corpus of the Revista Informação & Informação. The data were grouped and analyzed in four different decades through maps of the keyword network. Although "information science" appeared prominently as the main keyword, it was not until the first decade of the 21st century that the term became relevant in the research works published. There has also been, along the analyzed period, a considerable expansion of the research themes, however "knowledge organization", "knowledge management", "information management" and "scientific communication" were some of the most relevant topics.
