Governance, Hydroelectric, WaterAbstract
Most of the new hydroelectric power generation projects aim to improve the standard of living of the citizens of a country, with the development of energy potential, industrialization, improvement of subsistence conditions and poverty alleviation. However, ventures do not always compete with governance practices, bringing many impacts on the use of natural resources and externalities with diverse effects on people, families and communities. Using previous literature through a systematic review, we sought to identify the interrelationships between governance and impacts on the use of natural resources in hydroelectric projects, showing how governance contributes to reducing social impacts and the degradation of natural resources in the construction of hydroelectric projects. And based on the results, propose policies and actions that mitigate the specific effects of changes in the environments and communities involved, whether with contingency measures or even effective compensation. Finally, the article discusses the contradictions and inconsistencies found in the literature and proposes new opportunities and challenges that must be addressed by future research.
