Abstract

The article presents the contributions of Derek Wilton Langridge and Douglas John Foskett to disruptive innovations within the scope of Knowledge Organization, focusing on the knowledge organization systems of in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Disruptive innovations in Knowledge Organization breaks paradigms and models designed organization and representation schemes through innovative instruments aiming to satisfy the needs of users in the information retrieval process. This paper presents the contributions of Derek Wilton Langridge and Douglas John Foskett to disruptive innovations in the cultural aspects of the Knowledge Organization and their influence on Knowledge Organization Systems through content and domains analysis. The methodological approach allowed researchers to show that Foskett and Langridge's seminal works contributed to the theory, practice, teaching and development of Knowledge Organization as a domain as well as to the construction of specialized classification schemes in Human and Social Sciences that are the basis of Cultural Studies.

  • Marcos Luiz Cavalcanti de Miranda, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Centro de Ciências Humanas e Sociais, Escola de Biblioteconomia.

    Bachelor in Library Science and Documentation from UFF (1989), Master (1997) and Doctor (2005) in Information Science from the CNPq/IBICT-UFRJ/ECO Agreement. Associate Professor at the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) acting in the Bachelor's Degree Courses in Library Science in classroom and distance learning, Licentiate in Library Science and in the Postgraduate Program in Library Science - PPGB/ Professional Master's Degree in Library Science - MPB da UNIRIO. He has experience in Library and Information Science and Knowledge Organization and Management, working mainly on the following topics: knowledge organization, Web environments, knowledge management, accessibility, intangible heritage, teaching and training of information professionals. Post-Doctoral Internship in Information Science at the National Postgraduate Program (PNPD) of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) at the Graduate Program in Information Science (PPGCI) at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF). Leader of the Knowledge Organization Research Group for Information Retrieval (UNIRIO) and Member of the Knowledge Organization Research Group (IBICT); Excellence, Sustainability and Social Innovation: Engineering of Creative Organizations and Educational Technological Solutions (UNIRIO); Ontical and Ontological Studies in Informational Contexts: representation, retrieval and metrics (UFF). He is a member of the Editorial Board of the journals Informação e Informação (1981-8920), BIBLOS - Journal of the Institute of Human Sciences and Information (0102-4388) eSENAC.DOC: Journal of Information and Knowledge (2527-1407). Member of the National Bank of Evaluators of the National Higher Education Evaluation System (BAISI). Member of the International Society of Knowledge Organization - ISKO/Brazil, the National Association for Research and Graduate Studies in Library and Information Science - ANCIB and the Brazilian Association of Education in Information Science - ABECIN. President of the Federal Council of Library Science - CFB - 18th Administration (2019-2021).

FIOCRUZ na área de Ontologias genômicas,e no ano de 2014 obteve seu segundo Pós Doutorado na USP no Programa de Pós-Doutorado do Departamento de Biblioteconomia e Documentação da USP na área de Teorias de Representação/Ontologia de Fundamentação.Professora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Informação da Universidade Federal Fluminense e da Universidade Federal da Bahia. Desenvolve a pesquisa ?Compartilhamento de dados em ambientes de pesquisa: a interoperabilidade semântica em ambientes heterogêneos", como bolsista em produtividade pelo CNPq. Líder do grupo de pesquisa EOOCI ?Estudos Ônticos e Ontológicos em Contextos Informacionais: representação, recuperação e métricas?. Possui atividades de ensino e pesquisa na área de Organização e Recuperação da Informação, com especialidades nas seguintes temáticas: Teorias de Representação, Modelagem de Domínio, Construção de Tesauros e Taxonomias; Teoria da Classificação; Terminologia; Ontologia e Gestão de Conteúdos.
