The role of leadership in university libraries according to the perception of their staff

Leadership is seen as a mechanism capable of harmonizing the requirements as needed with organization's requirements. Nevertheless, the activities of managing and leading people in sales are improving due to the new needs of the knowledge society, characterized by disruptive transformations, such as the digital transformation, which occur very quickly and end up significantly affecting the behavior of associations. In this context, the research aims to identify the perception of the role of leadership concerning to their intellectual, management, emotional and social skills. In this regard, a systematic literature review was conducted, which showed that studies in leadership carried out in university libraries demonstrate a focus on the dimension "management skills.
In addition, a survey was carried out on a sample of 18 employees from public university libraries in Florianopolis, Brazil, and it was categorized according to competence dimensions. The collection instrument was applied to the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina, the University of the State of Santa Catarina, and the Federal University of Santa Catarina. The research revealed a broader concern for all dimensions involving leaders in these institutions
