Abstract

Competencies for innovation is a broad and comprehensive concept that concerns the ability of individuals to perform tasks that result in innovative improvements for organizations. It involves knowledge, skills and attitudes and is driven by both individual expertise and organizational capabilities. This topic has received attention in several scientific studies, however, there are still gaps in the literature related to the creation of these skills. In this sense, this research aims to map and analyze scientific production on innovation skills, in order to understand how the topic has been approached by the scientific community. It is a bibliographic study, with an exploratory-descriptive nature and a quantitative and qualitative approach. The method used was Knowledge Development Process-Constructivist (Proknow-C). A bibliometric and systemic analysis of the data was carried out. The results point to the composition of a bibliographic portfolio with 27 articles published in different scientific journals in the period from 2009 to 2021, with a total of 617 citations and greater connection between six of the 69 authors. They also indicate that studies on the topic focus on four key themes: skills for innovation in organizations, skills for innovation in the academic environment, models of skills for innovation and personality traits for innovation.
