Competências para inovação é um conceito amplo e abrangente, que diz respeito à capacidade dos indivíduos realizarem tarefas que resultem em melhorias inovadoras para as organizações. Envolve conhecimento, habilidades e atitudes e é impulsionado tanto pela expertise individual como pelas capacidades organizacionais. Este tema tem recebido atenção em diversos estudos científicos, no entanto, ainda existem lacunas na literatura relacionadas à criação dessas competências. Neste sentido, esta pesquisa tem como objetivo mapear e analisar a produção científica sobre competências para inovação, a fim de compreender como o tema vem sendo abordado pela comunidade científica. É um estudo bibliográfico, de caráter exploratório-descritivo e abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa. O método empregado foi o Knowledge Development Process-Constructivist (Proknow-C). Uma análise bibliométrica e sistêmica dos dados foi efetuada. Os resultados apontam para a composição de um portfólio bibliográfico com 27 artigos publicados em distintos periódicos científicos no período de 2009 a 2021, com um total de 617 citações e maior conexão entre seis dos 69 autores. Indicam ainda que os estudos sobre o tema se voltam para quatro tônicas, competências para inovação nas organizações, competências para inovação no ambiente acadêmico, modelos de competências para inovação e traços da personalidade para inovação.
